My speech written for giving my daughter away although I am her Mum. Her father has gone on ahead so I filled the space for her and the groom their fathers` behalf. God Bless you both always. Love Mum and Dads xxx
The Stand In
Thank you all for being here today
To see oor lassie gave away
To a man with soul so kind and true
A lad who steals the heart from you
He gets a gem with oor wee lassie
Even `though she can be sassy
Made in heaven to live forever
Sent down to earth to be together
Roddy is just like his Mum
Kind and caring gentle son
His Granny too, sweet gentle Bella
Thinks he is a lovely fella
He works hard through every day
To feed and clothe his family
He loves his children, Tammy's` too
Looks out for them the way Dads do
He loves my baby which brings me joy
He really is a smashing boy
Now my baby Tammy too
Gives to him a love that's true
Sure they have their ups and downs
Life sometimes brings with it some frowns
But they have tried for ten long years
Survived together many tears
And had lots of love and laughter
Today will be their ever after
Vows they made with honest heart
Say that they will never part
Tammy has a kind sweet soul
Roddy helped to make her whole
If I could give them some advice
It would be... to just be nice
Today I stand for Tammy`s Dad
I know that he will be so glad
His wee lass has found her peace
Love and joy will never cease
Both their Dads who went away
Are here on this their wedding day
To hug them tight and wish them well
Believe me...I can always tell
They are in the air we breathe
All you do... is you believe
