Dysfunction
These days we often ask ourselves
How things could go so wrong
When there's unrest in families
Who cannot get along?
As kindred ties are severed
And brother turns on brother
A daughter who once showed respect
Dismisses her own mother.
When children mock their parents
And moms and dads don't teach
Then wonder why their youngsters are
Quite frankly, out of reach.
And with all this dysfunction
As affections we forego
The love of many waxes cold
With the daily ebb and flow.
But the answer is rather simple
And easily can be found
By obedience to God's written word
Which turns our lives around.
Thus, ending all the chaos
With resolve to get along
As families reach a new plateau
And forget who's right or wrong.
How things could go so wrong
When there's unrest in families
Who cannot get along?
As kindred ties are severed
And brother turns on brother
A daughter who once showed respect
Dismisses her own mother.
When children mock their parents
And moms and dads don't teach
Then wonder why their youngsters are
Quite frankly, out of reach.
And with all this dysfunction
As affections we forego
The love of many waxes cold
With the daily ebb and flow.
But the answer is rather simple
And easily can be found
By obedience to God's written word
Which turns our lives around.

With resolve to get along
As families reach a new plateau
And forget who's right or wrong.
