A Most unworthy Father

A Most unworthy Father

Being honored Father's day brings me to tears
As I look back on my mistakes down through the years
So many bad decisions, so many bad choices
Raised hands, raised fist and many raised voices
Behind from the beginning I didn't know what to do
No earthly father for guidance, no one to run to
Afraid every moment, confused and so unsure
With my heart in the right place and my motive pure
I fell on my knees from the weight of it all
And there my heavenly Father answered my call
He spoke to me of confidence and a power placed in me
And how there was so much to a father than human eye can see
He offered me a companion to aid me by an by
To steady my nervousness and console me when I cry
A most unworthy father, a most unworthy man
A most Holy Father place lives in my hands
God believed in me, and I can scarcely believe
To complete a task too hard to achieve
Being honored Father's day brings me to tears
As I look back on my mistakes down through the years
I have never done one thing right; no not one at all
If not for God holding me up, I could not help but fall
The only wise thing that I've ever done
Was believe upon the gospel of God's only son
It was there in His testimony of a Fathers true love
I found the strength to wade to water and keep my head above
There in His holy word the direction needed is found
The foundation on the word of God is a most solid ground
He deserves the credit, He deserves all the praise
The mere fact that He entrusted me blows me away
It is a humbling experience, an overwhelming thought
That Jesus would place in my care what his death has bought
I am one honored, honored among man
The God would include me in His plan
