What you are to Me
What you are to Me
Sitting here thinking where would I be
If God by His grace a mercy hadn't brought you to me
Then I tried to explain through the gift of poetry
Why you came, when you changed and what you are to me
Past the obvious; Stephanie Marie
The Lords heavenly gift to me
Beyond that I lack the skill
To say exactly how you make me feel
A mighty lion and a baby lamb
A silly little boy and a full grow man
A king comfortable high own his throne
And a freighted peasant afraid to be alone
When I'm with you I am King Kong
Standing and protecting all night long
When you're away I'm like little boy blue
Nowhere to go and nothing to do
Before you appeared and changed my heart
I was on a road trip with nowhere to park
Just a rudderless ship in an angry sea
Wave after wave pounding down on me
Why you came to me? I needed a lighthouse
When you change me I was headed way south
What you are to me I'm still trying to grasp
But I don't see my poetry skills up to the task
You are the seed of the woman promised from the start
You are the rib from my side to cover my heart
You are that beautiful bride Abram feared to lose
You are the reason for the wisdom Joseph decided to use
You are worth the 21 years Jacob had to serve
You are the Moses that the Israelites didn't deserve
You are the manifestation of Proverbs 31
You are my earthly representation of the love of the Son
I am truly humbled that God placed in me
The trust He placed in Job that I couldn't see
He gave me a jewel for which He paid a great cost
And if not for that jewel I would have suffered great loss
What you are to me, I just don't have the word play
But I commit to show my weakness every single day
So weak I stumble more in love in every possible way
What you are to me is too much for me to say.
