When Dads say goodbye By EDWIN FLORES, www.PoetryPoem.com/poetry2231 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
It seems they held their own some time
Some time ago when things seemed fine
But time does age the best of them
Those known as father and best friend
It breaks the hearts of sons and daughters
Of grandsons too, mothers and fathers
It leaves a hurt no one will see
Inside of one whose soul does grieve
But know dear niece his final days
Were spent with you and will always
Be treasured by an old man's heart
Those he so loved, though now apart
It's just for now, no not forever
As time allowed but cannot sever
Your bond with him you miss this day
In life both his and yours he played
I'm sure you'll see him well again
When GOD dictates and Heaven sends
A call for you to come and be
With Abe again dear Desiree
Written for my niece Desiree on the loss of her father Abraham Sanabria
