Our Nation
Our nation is slowly sinking
With apathy on the rise
As new ideas for governance
Have proved to be unwise.
From "The Great Society" of LBJ
To the notion of "Hope and Change"
The freedoms we have long enjoyed
May soon go down the drain.
With millions now on food stamps
And masses unemployed
Politicians look the other way
As our country is destroyed.
When a hustler baits the angry
To wage war on the cops
One has to wonder if and when
Such violence ever stops.
Our borders are wide open
And people live in fear
While hordes of strangers walk right in
By the thousands every year.
Yes, it seems we're in big trouble
Which gives me pause to think
That our nation, due to recklessness
Is continuing to sink.
