 Elsie`s Poetry

Well it is holiday time for me again
And getting out of this awning is my aim,
A great big field is just on the other side
If I can get out then I can go and hide.

Across the field lie lots of pine trees
I can hide myself very well in these,
This is a plan I am going to try and execute
And if I can pull it off it will be a hoot.

I`m sure that`s a gap in the awning I see
If I can get through it then I will be free,
Maybe I`d be quicker with a set of wheels
If I`m not fast they`ll be quick on my heels.

I`m off and running as fast as I can go
Silly people think that tortoises are slow,
I`m here one minute and then gone the next
This can make my owners very very vexed.

Mission accomplished I`m at the trees now
But this the party poopers will not allow,
I`m picked up and carried back in disgrace
They must realize I`ll not stay in one place.

I`ll laze in the sun and spread my legs out
That way they`ll think I`m content no doubt,
But all the time I`m scheming away
After all tomorrow is another day.
