The Backyard Of My Life

Pictures Of Lilly

Looking back through the dark dusty days of time
Sweet memories of the summer of fifty nine
I drove a Cadillac called Caroline
I pulled into a dinner looking to find her
She came rollerblading over and asked to take my order
I said would you be so kind to take a chance on me
We can grow old together Lilly

Walking down a bridge over memory lane
A black and white photograph brought back to life again
Next to a few old burnt books
Behind some tattered torn boxes
Inside a golden locket lies
A picture of Lilly with those big blue eyes

Before too long we were settling down
With a bundle of joy on the way
The sun was always shining down at sanfrancisco bay
She would leave me little love letters
I would serenade her with flowers
The special way we would kiss goodnight
Lilly my love my guiding light

Walking down a bridge over memory lane
The years have fallen by like rain
Hidden away in a perfect place
Inside a secret vault that no ones ever seen
Theres a portrait of Lilly painted like a queen

Watching old movies of the silver screen
While she would knitt a scarf by the fireside
Sending postcards to places that we have never been
Both of us were satisfied

The angles came and took her away
But i know we will meet again someday
To carry on where we left off
Till that time sitting waiting watching the clock
Whenever Heaven hands me the key to unlock the door
Thats when i wont hurt no more
Dancing together again in the sky above
Re-united with Lilly my love
Walking down a bridge over memory lane
A black and white photograph brought back to life again
Next to a few old burnt books
Behind some tattered torn boxes
Inside a golden locket lies
A picture of Lilly with those big blue eyes
