She faded in the light
I kept her on the window sill
My heartthrob sweet and fair
I'd look at her throughout the day
She knew how much I cared
I dusted her, I trusted her
I kissed the glass goodnight
But as with lots of things in life
She faded in the light
I'd hoped one day to marry her
My plans were set in stone
It's why I kept her photograph
Where I could see it when I want
But time has been no hero
It's clocks a waste of sighs
For when I wasn't looking
She faded in the light
The frame is standing empty
It's shine has dulled to naught
The photo paper bleached to white
A shadow of what was
No way that I can change a thing
No way I'd want to – right?
I gave her all the love I could, but
She faded in the light
