Don't Watch the Arrows

Don't Watch the Arrows

The enemy is lurking, no doubt about that
He knows you are redeemed but he wants you back
He doesn't have the power to stop you by force
His only hope now is to knock you off course
As you run your race don't be surprised
If you see flaming arrows on every side
The Lord God has promised in Psalm 91
That He is your protection as you run
As long as you abide in His Holiness
That old roaring lion is powerless
Don't watch the arrows, stay fixed on Him
Listen to His Spirit dwelling within
Even though they come in all shapes and sizes
And the enemy has many different disguises
You don't wrestle against fresh and blood you see
But spiritual wickedness and principalities
So no matter what they look like or what they say
Don't let those arrows get in your way
As you dwell in the secret place of the most High
He will shelter you as the arrows fly on by
A thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right
But trust in the Lord with your very life
Stand on His word, stay in His presence
Keep you feet shod with the gospel message
Don't listen to the arrows as they roar by
Keep your ears on your Father up in the sky
Some people, some places, even some things
A little fame, a little fortune, and shiny rings
They don't look much like arrows but be aware
They can lead off the path and keep you there
Test the spirit by the Spirit, be humble and wise
There is no limit to the devices the enemy tries
He will entice you with riches you can't afford
Your treasure lies with God as your reward
So recognize the arrows and keep in mind
The Helper has been sent to keep you in line
Follow His advice and go where He goes
Keep your eye on the prize not the arrows
