 ~REFLECTING MOMENTS~

FALLING FORWARD

The sierra mist rolls forward
into burnt remnants of a recent summer
touching down into the mouth of a valley

A warm welcoming is shared
upon the earth and its colony's

Fall has begun
removing its coat of arms
the colorful parasols
that shaded our homes

Rust and lemon yellow
amber of many hues
sprinkle and settle
upon a thirsty soil

The bones of winter shall soon stretch
her arms and icicle fingers
rattling trees bare and white

A crisp morning has caressed my cheek
frost has touched my garden
the great sleep is upon us

I anticipate the new blanket
of snow and its intricate lace
a frigid rehearsal
of stages of past and future

I am fond of all seasons
they dress in full regal
an anticipated gift of wonder

The scent of pine and pumpkin
has taken center stage
these are my favorite scents

The glee and reunion of family
tables will soon be groomed with feasts
love and thankfulness shall fill the hearts

We look forward to our cozy sweaters
cranberry tarts and hot apple cider
will warm the spirit
and flavored hot coffees
shall caress our hands

As mittens for the mountain people
skiing and snow boarding
these remind me of a snow globe

And we the people
inside this beautiful wonderland

Chestnuts will be roasting
upon carefully prepared log fires

The glow of embers resemble tiny suns
with crackling sounds
and fresh woodsy air
warming the hearts of lovers

The flames of Autumn will dance
and dance it will
a joyous reunion
as shall we
