The Forward Pass

I didn't know what to do
anymore
so
I called for help

I lofted a Hail Mary to the goal line
my throw fell
incomplete
there was
no delving underneath
their patronizing
shutting off my words

it was on to the next caller
and a meager offer of a misdirected referral
why should the put upon
get involved

my issue being my property
my misfortune
to be solely resolved
a true chance for real personal growth

ta-ta
good morrow and
good riddance

"buck up babe
and tie up your boot strings tight
my brother sleeps again in the cold tonight"

"now,
get off my line
and keep on walking
because its yourlonely road..."

"forget about your brother
and his starving to death
in his truck"

we only move when the tree
shakes enough
and it hasn't been
thoroughly shaken.
