In tenth grade, he made the VARSITY--SWIM-TEAM
And he, anchored, the WINONA--WINHAWKS--medley relay, and WON, a gold medal, and--MINNESOTA--STATE--CHAMPIONSHIP--RACE, and it was a --DREAM
A true CHAMPION, of CHAMPIONS, over night he BECAME
DUFF--, my friend, my hero--was--his--NAME
In grade school, we called him, the PROFESSOR, he was always, the smartest, wisest, and calmest, and FASTEST--RUNNER--in--SCHOOL
Duff, was always, very ORGANIZED, very, very, focused, and driven, destined for--GREATNESS--always, always, at his, very-- best of his best,--he-- would not settle for any less, --he did, not have to act like all us, other kids,--so-- TOUGH,--HARD-- and --ROUGH, --and ----COOL
Duff he was always driven for--GREATNESS
In all things, he was,-- always --always --his best of his--BEST
Duff, was always very PATIENT, very CAUTIOUS, THRIFTY, and WISE
He always thought ahead, so far, with--PRECISE--CALCULATED--thinking, as he was not going to, jump and leap, and get knocked off, his feet, with defeat, --duff was SMART--BRIGHT--and wanted no downfall or--SURPRISE
In --8th--GRADE
The defensive football, team, kicked off the ball, in the late, 8th--grade -football season, WINONA--JUNIOR--HIGH--SCHOOL--fall, duff was back on the -GOAL-LINE-, he caught the ball, he --DODGED--ZIPPED--, SLIPPED-- and --GLIDED----almost---- untouched,---- all ---the ---way, ---faster--than--a--speeding--bullet-- all -the -way- to -the -other- END-ZONE-- and --an --INCREDIBLE--IMPOSSIBLE------UNFORGETTABLE-----TOUCH--DOWN----HE--MIRACULOUSLY--GREATLY--MADE
Dufff was my HERO, way back then, and forever stil--IS
I will be HAPPY, to READ, this POEM, to his--LOVING--wife, and bull dog, kitten, and GREAT--KIDS
