The Long Road Home

The Long Road Home                       December 11. 2016

The long road home

Many died alone

Others died with comrades

If only we had known

They came and killed

Took our land and more

No Irish will be spoken

Homes destroyed and burned

Religion banned, God overturned

The children of the gael

The force was set to fail

Irish blood on an Irish street

Cromwell came to face defeat

From every street in Ireland

The spirit of freedom in our land

The children of the gael

Resistance will prevail

Self determination

In this Irish nation

The long road home

Many died alone
