GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD

THE WORDS OF THE BIBLE
 King James Version


THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO SAINT LUKE

Luke 2: 12 - 14  
 
12. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

This is my understanding of these Scriptures

12. Angels had announced the birth of Jesus to the Shepherds keeping watch over their sheep.
They were told to go to Bethlehem, the City of David..  they would find the Christ child wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger (swaddling clothes were long bands of cloth that were wrapped around the baby) (a manger is a trough for feeding animals)

13. A multitude of angels appeared singing and praising God, because THE SAVIOR was born.  (can you imagine what that music sounded like. The shepherds had never heard such beautiful sounds.  This was music from heaven,  WOW!)

14. The angels were saying GLORY TO GOD in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men.
How beautiful this must have sounded.  They were praising God and giving glory to Him for He would bring salvation to all who would believe. He brought peace and good will to men.  Because Jesus our Savior was born.  (true peace can come only through knowing Jesus as the Savior of mankind).
