When I Was Young
When I was young
The water froze
The lakes were solid
And I cried for I wanted to go home
When I was young
My heart amazed the tenderness
The fortune of Jesus was in the words that I still cherish
When I was young
He lifted me up and gave me strength when I was down
He made me feel Joy
The spirit solidly spread his name
When I was young I sang at church and dreamed of true love
When I cried I feed my fear but he drowned even these tears
When I was young I cried out for his mercy and it freed my soul
God Thank you for the Son with a heart of Gold
God thank you lift us up and take control
When I was young I fed the cows and chickens like dad told me
And the stars seemed brighter in the sky
But true love I guess was far from my heart
Sad and lonely I cried out and asked in his name
When I was young I never thought eternal
I dreamed of love and wanted certainty
Falling down the lord lifted me to heaven
Once again the tender mercies I proclaim
When I was young I filled my heart with his spirit
And never did that wrong as they all say
When you grow old the majesty is true love
But to obtain love like this you have to overcome
