Reason For the Season

You hear songs of jingle bells and sleigh rides,
Of winter wonderlands and Yuletides.
There are songs of Santa and reindeer,
Of decorated trees and Christmas cheer.

Children are taught on Santa to believe,
And focus on what presents they will receive.
So many families have forgotten the real reason
We celebrate the Christmas season.

The most amazing story ever told,
Man in his arrogance seeks to withhold.
They ignore the holy virgin birth,
God's perfect son come to earth.

A tale of the greatest sacrifice ever made,
Our blackest sin debt he willingly paid.
A wondrous story of redemption and love,
Orchestrated by our heavenly father above.

This Christmas, be enveloped by reverence and awe
As you revisit the holy babe in the manger and straw.
Let us focus on the amazing reason
We celebrate the Christmas season.
