If I were to say I love you If I were to say I love you, Would you think me impulsive or rash? Would you turn from my gaze, Walk away in a rage, Telling friends our first date was our last?
If I were to say I love you, Would you think me too forward, too fast? Would you think my pace crude, Ill-conceived, downright rude, Bid me go and pray never come back?
If I were to say I love you, In my haste would you brand me as mad? As impatient, imprudent, Beset with illusion, A man of no breeding, no class?
If I were to say I love you, Orchestrating an overbold scheme, I meant no offence, Touch of heart over head, Would you forfeit a poor man his dream?
