Poetic Verses

Perhaps You Think

Perhaps you think that I am cold
Having washed my hands of you
Even though you never seemed to care
The grief you put me through.

If only it had been just me
I'd have much less to say
But you stepped on your closest friends
When they got in your way.

And perhaps you think I hold a grudge
Though I'm trying to forget
So, I'm writing this to let you know
That I forgive your debt.

And that has not been easy
Though to forgive, I must
For that's what God expects of me
To stand redeemed and just.

So clearly, I have made the choice
To forgive and let it be
Even though we may not reconcile
That's good enough for me.

Yes, I forgive your every slight
For the hurt and pointless blame
But in spite of what tomorrow brings
I hope you'll feel the same.
