Martins gone he left today
He's in the heavens far away
Derry's son stood proud and tall
The Bogside boy who answered the call
A life of struggle he led the way
So Irish people could have their say
Bloody Sunday was on his call
Fourteen people God Bless them all
On Williams street, there was no retreat
Civil rights will not be beat
A vision of peace on Irelands shore
Who could ask for anything more
He stepped to the side for political life
He never forgot the struggle and strife
He stood strong against things that were wrong
We'll remember his cause, the soldier's song
Martins gone he left today
He's in the heavens far away
