The Guitar And The Man

 The Guitar And The Man

Picking up guitar within withered hands
The man strums melodies of distant dreams
No one to really hear or understand
Upon the wind his soul set free

As strings are played
The guitar sings of sorrows lived
From an early Spring

Sweet music plays across the land
As he takes a walk down memory lane
With his only friend in hand
He sings of his lifetime
Filled with pain

Adrift the peal of guitar strings
His song to soul the same deep peace
As are words placed
By poet's pen

Alluring peace the guitar brings
To masters hands that strums the song
Released his voice unto the wind
Of dreams now lived and love now gone

Tis the guitarist in his own right
That plays his mournful song this night
For long he's paid the ticket's price
Within lonely tears and sacrifice

Welcoming to his heart for now
What seems God's plan

Knowing his guitar will soon play
Upon paved streets of gold
Within the promised land

He will then sing to angels fair
No rotting stench upon the air
No chilling cold within his bones
Guitar and man
In reach of finding home
