My pen's in love with you

I write in moods that wax and wane,

That come and go with every day. A

Little love, some raw despair, a kiss

Or two, a place somewhere. I add a

Little imagery, the beauty of a girl I've

Seen, her hair, her face, her worry lines,

Did he come home at all last night?

I try to write through dark-days too,

To hide the pain of losing you. It

Sometimes works but not today, can't

Concentrate, can't see my way, to

Write of things as I once could, when

Words came easy through your love,

I'd slide from bed and write for hours,

Until the candlestick went out.

The candlestick is close to hand, in

Time perhaps I might pretend, to hear

You breathing, hear you sigh, ink my

Pen and start to write. Sad to say, my

Pen's no fool, I might dream, but it

Won't do, it has a sense of loyalty too,

Like me, my pen's in love with you.
