Dawn Chorus 3

One of these nights
I'm going to make myself heard.
I'm going to scream and shout
And wake up every single local bird.

Let them see how we feel
To be dragged wide awake
By hearing them heralding
Every new dawn's break.

Revenge is sweet and
The thought I like best
Is that  of them chuntering
In every roost and nest.

I'm just a fallible human
And it nearly makes me weep
Every spring and summer morning
When they drag me from my sleep.

I really love the sound
Of any wild bird song
But does it have to start so early
And carry on so bloody long.
