Why Can't I Find Yesterday?

Why Can't I Find Yesterday?

If only I could understand
These feelings of utter confusion

I have silently drifted away
Into a range of emotions
That only those like me
Can undrstand truly

If only I could escape
From this emptiness

Lost within a place
Of long ago moments
Where memories elude me
And I beg to see
Only a glimpse of whom I once was

My Grandchildren's names lost to me
Their laughter as they play
Should bring me memories of joy
But nothing is within my grasp

Nothing Is There!

I get so angry at times
Lost within many years ago
Yet not able
To recall my yesterday

Anger was never my emotion
Or was it?

Where is my Mommy?
I want my Mommy!!

No longer allowed to see.

I cannot see.
Why can't I see??!!!

I search this vast nothingness
That I am trapped within
To find something ... anything
That would bring to me
Some sort of recognition

I am lost ...
Between what once was
And what will become

Within this darkness
That finds no name
I have found my farewell

And to the few
That can somehow understand ...

I ask you
To explain it all to me

Pray for my family
For I am lost to them as well

That is ...
If I have a family at all

I own the image of many faces
All of us lost to what once was

I rest for now
Beyond the dark side of the moon
Where seasoned soldiers remain
To still find moments of peace

Let me be alone ...

Remember me
When darkness calls
It is now
Within this sanctuary
That I must remain to fall

A Challenge write within Once Upon A Time

Free Verse and Phrases

The dark side of the moon
and
Let me be alone
