He's There

coal black
nightshade he is
a shadow
how do you know he's there
Oh, but he is
a dark whisper
an obscure rustling
caught in your throat
a wind rattling the blinds
the beginning rumblings of a storm
and the deep chill
that first rushes through you

and no blanket
could ever keep
you warm enough
or cover you

when you know

he's there.

(my Homage to an Alfred Hitchcock thriller)
