Fisherman, hunter, traveler
The world was his oyster
In his day a man of much importance
But at 87 his health deteriorated
Limited to Wheelchair
In the course of dying those who love him suffer
Once so strong fade away
The older you get Heaven's doors are open
Pain and pills dominate
Walkers then wheelchairs
So far I have avoided both
But not the pain
Two prostate operations and radiation
Good news for me Cancer free
PSA: .047 normal range
Morning finds me walking on wounded knees
Pain in hips for the moment gone
I need to hear some of my fellow poets reporting in
Many of us are searching Heaven for friends
Hope some of you I have not heard from lately

So far I wake up each morning
