 Heart Songs

Love Is To Me

 Love Is To Me

The beauty of a sunset
That refreshes sweet hopes for tomorrow
It is the warmth of a kiss
That has no need for spoken words

Love is dreams lived . . . dreams yet to be
And dreams sometimes painfully put aside
Because of the circumstances of the day

Love is the tenderness of a touch
And the gentleness of a spirit

Love is sometimes foolishly unprotected
And often times taken for granted

Love is forgiving past transgressions
Love is forgiving freely

Love is also praying somehow
To truly forget the pictures of your mind
For the forgiveness you yearn to give

Knowing that the words
'I love you '
Is not a meaningless phrase
Passed between each other
Because they are words
Expected to be spoken

Love for most
Carries with it many faces
The love of family
The love of friends
The love of God and country

Each holds its own place
Each has its own expression of meaning

The remembrance of holding my children
In their first moments of life

Love is the joy I felt within my heart
As my son and daughter
Experienced the new emotion
Of doing the same

Love is looking into the face
Of my daughter and seeing
A young woman of great beauty
Warmth and intelligence

Love is thinking of my son
And feeling his hugs
Even though many miles separate us

Love is the feeling of pride
With each accomplishment met
And it is the weeping of my heart
Within the sorrow of my children's tears

The feelings of warmth and tenderness
Both given and received

Love is sometimes painful
And does not escape loneliness

Love does not live in fear of tomorrow
But chooses to live in what joys can be
Found in the today

The greatest of all gifts to be given
The greatest of all gifts to be received
The greatest of all gifts

To be claimed as your own
