Songs of Life
The Race (Once Again)
Things flew by so rapidly I could barely focus on life.
There was a time when I was wrapped up in the game.
I seemed to get lost though I plodded onward,
Never missing a step or forgetting my name.
Life with its infinite possibilities called for a break.
I screamed within to slow it down, let me choose.
I think I stopped, then stumbled, then fell over the edge.
My mind burned out, the circuits were fused.
An endless stream of responsibilities washed over,
crying out even louder that they must be met,
and I struggled to regain my self composure,
Never doubting for a minute my limits were set.
As my rubber legs stumbled, I got back on track,
Though exhausted I fought, with every breath I ran.
The road seemed much wider than it did before,
and thats when I noticed we were hand in hand.
My legs became stronger, my pace a little longer.
My focus returned as your smile lit the way.
Now I understand what you meant about sharing,
As we run through this hectic life today.
