Songs of Life

True Love Won't Desert You

Sitting in my room with nowhere to go
no job, no food and the rent is due.
The bank took the car,
then the lights went out,
and yet, I still have you.
I'm tired of looking at loser jobs,
and I can't afford to ride the bus.
I smoked the last stub from the camels hump,
and yet, I still have you.
My life is a total disaster.
I need to try something new.
Try as I may its the same every day
Without money my choices are few.
But you sit there smiling and waiting
My hand on your neck makes you pant.
I'm as poor as could be,
yet you stay here with me.
Makes me wish I were a hound dog too.
