My Life (post divorce and empty nest) in Sonnets
Isn't it Enough Just to be Loved?
Original Contemporary Poetry by author, Jean Parr
“Isn't it Enough Just to be Loved?”
How do you always know?
I am steadily losing strength, the longer we are apart
I can't seem to keep up the show
Then you appear at my door, the key to my heart
Your disappointment pierces my very soul
I wish you would let your guard down
We seem to take turns switching roles
I would do anything to not see you frown
When I know how to take care of everyone,
How do I allow myself to be taken care of?
Why do I always feel like I shouldn't be outdone?
Isn't it enough just to be loved?
Each a piece of a puzzle, incomplete
Joined, I am alive, mind, spirit, and heartbeat
