there's something special
about holding a cat they have to let you they have to sense internally you'll do them no harm when a cat lets you hold them its the greatest compliment it means I trust you you're alright with me I'm alright with you acceptance of the greatest magnitude cats are discerning they don't give their love away its been bad publicity for the cat that all you have to do is feed them and they'll be a friend forever statements like that are made in ignorance of course a cat will eat when its hungry or given some special treat but I've seen cats walk away from food as if it were poison and I know that hunger is a basic drive an instinct one cannot ignore so is kindness why not then believe that the cat is reacting to the kindness and attention and not the food so many would underestimate the cat I view them as extraordinary beings with an inner life and each possessing singular personalities so much so that when one enters my life and choses to befriend me I have the presence of mind to know I've been given a gift love a cat you will get so much more in return legal copyright for this poem/work July 12, 2017 9:11am PST and also for this writer/author Melissa A. Howells and also for this legally copyrighted site title: "Meloo Straight From Her Tilt-a-World" I don't have any real problem with cats liking me... they seem to sense that I'm one of them... I've had snarly cats calm down under my influence.. I talk to them like cats would like to be talked to, in their own peculiar dialect, with respect and kindness. Its worked out finer than frog's hair so far. Vote for this poem |
