Her Smile

Original Contemporary Poetry by author, Jean Parr

“Her Smile”

She stands in front of the Danube River
She smiles like the Mona Lisa
She remembers, yet she still delivers
The river erases her amnesia

You might wonder about her smile
You might see her from a different vantage point
You might think you understand her trials
You might believe she has no viewpoint

You would be wrong, she has been burnt
But her strength of will is unsurpassed and she has sacrificed
She is as strong as the river current
She is fire and ice

If you cross her
You will be a blur
