Born A Father

Born a Father
You had to die as a boy and be reborn as a man
Whether or not it was a part of your plan
Fresh from the womb with no knowledge at all
Determined to stand but destined to fall
No time to wet your feet, just dive right in
On the job training, let the test begin
Whatever the example you have or never had
It's irrelevant now, you are now a dad
The world says you will only be what you see
If you had a bad father, that's the father you'll be
If your dad wasn't around just bail out now
You can't be a dad because you don't know how
But there is an example, just open your  eyes
See the mountains, the sea, and the vast blue skies
Look to the birds and the bees, the flowers and trees
The cold winter snow, and the warm summer breeze
The evidence is all around if you are willing to see
With the power to make you the dad you want to be
The example was set on an rugged cross
That being a father is not about being the boss
It requires a perfect man, but that man is not you
You are just the vessel that perfection flows though
To be a good dad all you really have to do
Is tell your heaven Father that you really want to
Admit to your mistakes, confess every one
Take them to the Father by way of the Son
Get up the next day like the fresh morning dew
Let God be God, and you just be you
You were born to be a father whether you know it or not
Just put it all in God's hands, and give it all you got
Just give the same love that was given to you
And the ultimate father will see you through
