 Contemporary poetry by Dan Donlan

Alex and Shelly,  very special wedding. Mom had a reserved table, everyone knew she would be there.
Mom in Heaven looking down. No doubt to anyone she was around, It was a tragic accident
taken far too soon. The motor home went up in flames  One who forever would not be a forgottens name.
Groom and Bridesmaid have a special tattoo, Mom's day of birth, her name, the day she died tattooed
On each of her childrens shoulders. They were in the car following and saw the accident. The
chidren were eight and ten when their mother died in the tragic wreck
She lives on this special day in their hearts and knowing Mom's wishes
no tear would be cried, except in private, for in their heart Mom is alive.

So many ironies so many stories. After the wedding there will be rafting down the Yakima
river. A day before the accident the family 26 in all celebrated as her families guests.
She drove the rafters to and from the river. Said nothing that she would have to rush to
Seattle to rent the motorhome to go to her husbands Triathelon meet in Canada. She worked
to support the family so he could live out his dream of training and competing. Mom was
always thinking of others above herself. When he remarried he married her best friend.
She would have approved the choice to raise her children. She was loved by two
more children who have become best friends. Each members of the wedding party.

STACI JO YAGER

To Soar
To seek
embrace the sky
Alas no wings have I!
Her walk so gentle
Yet aloft
As a baby bird
on it's maiden flight
Her voice so soft
A mere whisper in the night
No more beautiful woman
I must say
Than she as beautiful
Coming towards
As the day the Lord
took her away

wrote poem  at her funeral as her two young children sent balloons into the sky.
Both today college graduates as Mom watches down. Yesterday her son was
wedded Mom having a special reserved table. The bride most beautiful
Mom would have approved. "Say yes to the dress!" assured. On  knees I could
hardly walk God allowed me to dance. Bring back the fifties. I drew a laugh from
all but one. When they asked a dance of the longest married couple. 56 years,
and he asked our secret, I said, "Separate bedrooms". bruises well heal.
The family all there smiling and laughing, Donlan humor, "So you are sleeping
on the deck again. Watch out for the Raccoon's!"

It would be Staci's wishes we help the homeless!
Once a week she visited the homeless tents surrounding her city
Knew the homeless by name. If they needed clothing she took
them to Goodwill. Let them select and payed from her pocketbook,
If someone was sick took them to the Hospital. They knew her as we
do as special. I know much is caused by drug use. But not all and
Staci took it for herself to find those really in need.
