Shamayim
Today's sermon introduced me to
Another Hebrew word...
One I had never encountered...
One I had never heard.
But doesn't a teachable spirit
hunger to always tune in?
And, yes, I did learn the meaning
Of the word Shamayim.
I learned its meaning is Heaven...
The sky or a lofty place...
But with the ending in im...
This word can also mean space.
Because im is plural in reference,
Heavens is much more correct...
Actually there are three
And this fact can surely be checked.
Please, just open your Bibles
To 2nd Corinthians 12:2.
I, for one, surely believe
That Paul's story of Heaven is true.
I believe this apostle was granted
A gimpse into what is to be.
This Third Heaven will one day be Home
To such as you and such as me.
It's the place where The Heavenly Father
Has chosen to erect His Throne...
And, there, on some glorious morning
He'll welcome all those called His own.
His Son, our Sweet Savior, Redeemer,
Is seated at The Father's Right Hand...
How awesome, how perfect, how thrilling!
How blessed, how refreshing, how grand!
So, when some maybe ask where our God is...
Jesus taught us that He is above...
"Our Father Who art in Heaven"
Is a prayer laced in genuine love.
We should always look up to the sky way...
And our eyes should hold the East fast...
For the East holds our wonderful future...
While the West only holds our dead past.
Doesn't the sun always rise in the East?
And it always sets in the West?
Tell me, which direction should Christians
Determine as being the best?
Yes, I'll agree that sunsets are pretty...
But they always end every day.
While sunrises are seen as beginners
Of a glorious new path or new way.
May each way lead us to Heaven...
Lead us to the third Shamayim.
Through Christ, may our sins be forgiven...
And may our hearts remain open to Him.

Genesis !:1-2
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was
over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God
was hovering over the waters.
Genesis 1:6-8
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst
of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters
which were under the firmament from the waters which were above
the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven.
Genesis 1:14
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven
to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons,
and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament
of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made
two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light
to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament
of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
2nd Corinthians 12: 2-4
I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body,
I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
such an one caught up to the third heaven. And I knew such a man,
(whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words,
which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
Psalms 103:12
- As far as the east is from the west, [so] far hath he removed
our transgressions from us.
