Just because I cannot hear,

And cannot speak your language,

Even though I master and reading and writing in your language,

You don’t even know nor understand my damn language.

You expect me to read your damn lips,

Forcing me to play guessing games,

And let’s throw in some fun,

A damn beard, a damn mustache, or damn accents

Your lips move fast and uncomprehendingly,

Or you exaggerate your mouth movement,

Making this educated woman feel like a retard,

Even though my IQ may be way over yours.

You force me to sit all day long, and like an idiot

Giving me the hand, telling me to wait

While you all scamper around,

Figuring out how to deal with me.

My rights are being denied,

Accommodations doesn’t happen in time,

And we had to keep on educating you all,

On simple legal matters, my language, and my culture.

Did you forget why I was there in the first place,

And don’t you realize you are pushing me over the cliff,

To where I want to fly free,
And to be free of you all, and a burden to none.
