The Backyard Of My Life

A Glitter Gig For Wendy

There's a glitter gig for Wendy
Under the marble arch at dawn
A thousand trumpets sounding
Riding on a unicorn
There's a golden
Ladder leading up to the sky
Lonely distant drums were only angels fly

Falling down in to the whirlpool
Coming up by a bar stool
How far do you wanna go?
Enough to say I've been there
Tell me How high or low?
You can take me anywhere

There's a Plasticine parade for Wendy
The clock ticks time is torn
A pay phone ringing my mind is blown
There's some silver sunlight shining
Through the dark dusty room
You can feel the fever of yesterdays full moon

Stepping into shoes
Breaking out of boxes
How long would you like to stay?
Maybe a minuet or so
You might burn out or fade away
Some people will never know

There's a crystal celebration for Wendy
Held by the children of the corn
An eternal circle of echos
Making me feel like I've never been born
Tonight the streets are ours
She wont be home for hours
When she returns she'll only swallow sleep
