Father,
Do not blame the others
It was I who let the demons in
I invited them to supper
While I listened to their stories
And danced to their songs
Not knowing how long

Only the innocence of youth
Kept me standing
As so many
Succumbed
And fell

I found this poem in an old journal from 2006…
