Are you awake?
A lover's light, a subtle glow
A candle here at my elbow
A nudge, a hand that strayed my way
Lips that whisper 'Are you awake?'
A slip awry, a 'Hello' squeeze
No pretending now to be asleep
No play-acting, no shame, no pride
What's yours is mine in candlelight
Sleep disturbed for want of love
Might be too late it's two o'clock?
But no, the hour is never late
For lucky lips 'Are you awake?'
