Little Water Bug ( learning the lesson of true pain)

***********

little water bug
why do you fly into the stream of hot water
just above the shower
kamikaze with no care for your briefness
seeing your frantic efforts to escape
and your even more puzzling appearance
in the warmth
so many of your kind scorched against the shower wall
are you blind
I alter the temperature to cool
and attempt to shoo you away
but you belligerently return
too soon you will be burned
by someone who's less mindful
I don't know why exactly I'm aware of you
but I am
little thing that flies too close
but gets flattened drowned and singed
I wonder if its the same foolish bug
who is re-incarnated but always returning
never to learn the lesson of true pain
