Poetic Verses
Casting Shadows
The tall the wise the more complete
Casting shadows at their feet
As one beneath alone to stand
The small the dull or less in command
And there like under a shady tree
Ne'er to thrive or be set free
The shadow envelopes like dark of night
To rob of confidence and insight
To take the nourishment of simple praise
Like thieves who steal sun's golden rays
And there the mighty cast down a glance
And whisk away a silver chance
Casting shadows for all to see
Cruel the drape that falls upon thee
And heavy the weight those shadows bore
In thy solemn forevermore
