“Facts about Her”
He really thought
he knew her
pretty well
I mean he
knew her
but then again
did he,
this threw him
he knew her
birthday
and lots more
odd
and personal facts
so I guess
he
felt like he
knew her,
he decided to
write down
every little fact
he could think of
about her
his list started
with a well known
fact about her
her birthday was
January 28th
a pretty straight
forward start
but then
as he begun
to think about
her
he wandered off
point
he went from
facts
to features
starting with her
eyes,
he found he
couldn’t just put
green
as their color
to be factual
he felt
he had to explain
they weren’t just
green
or even
blue-green
he went on for
a full page
describing how
they were
green-blue
being that they
were mostly green
with some blue
that’s why you
had to say green
first
whenever you
described them,
he then went on
to describe the
flakes of color
she had in her
iris
for a good
couple of pages
and that’s before
he even got going
on how her
eyes
reflect different
types of light
in totally
unique ways
creating a new
palette of color
for each one
as if they had
a will of their
own
and how he
would swear
in certain settings
they even got
bigger
brighter
and would
sparkle
giving her
the look
of a heroine
in some cutting
edge
Japanese anime
graphic novel,
after about
an hour
of some real
hard writing
he was ready to
slide down to
her smile
which he decides
that to be
done correctly
he needs to
break her
smile into
separate
categories
such as
happy
sexy
fake
mad
innocent
and nineteen
others
but even then
he had
sub-categories
with numerous
combinations of
the previous
types of
smiles
all of this was
neatly documented
in a 100-page
composition notebook
with just
“Facts about Her”
written on the
front of it,
after countless
pages of
smiles
and smile
combinations
he was ready
for a new chapter
this one entitled
“Her Mouth”
which he spent
the first two pages
just explaining
the differences
between the
“Her Smile”
chapter
and the
“Her Mouth”
chapter,
he spent
the next
nine hours
filling up
every page
both front and
back
of that notebook
going on to
describe
every line and
curve of her
visible body
and when he
was done
he sat back
in his beat-up
reclining chair
with a prideful
feeling of
accomplishment
and as he was
thinking about
his book
“Facts about Her”
that was when
he realized
he was wrong
it wasn’t her
birthday
on January 28th
that was his sister’s
birthday
he reached over
to the table
and grabbed a
black magic marker
and ran it
through
the word “Facts”
in the title
ok
he said to himself
maybe I don’t
know
as many facts
about her as
I thought
but I can say
with confidence
anyone who reads
this book
“About Her”
will feel like
they had already
met her
from the very
first time
they look
in to her
beautiful
green/blue
eyes…
