 My today's thoughts

LITTLE BIT

When I was little

A Child's Remembrance

When I was little
A child of three
My daddy would take me
upon his knee
With his voice soft and low
tell me of days long ago

Where the grass was green
and the sky blue
The buffalo roamed the prairie
in thunderous herds
A tumble weed had freedom to
ramble where ever it wanted

The Indian was the earth's friend
happy in the space The Great Creator gave him
That was before the day of the
barb wire fence........

He would stop talking
His blue eye fixed as looking back into time
Then he would look down at me
rub my short hair with loving fingers

He would say
"Little Bit, I pray the grass will be green
and the sky blue
when you grow up"
