Sex and Lies It just didn't happen, it didn't occur It was all in the mind of a cold jealous girl But it echoed 'round town in an 'ooh la la' loop And the gossips rejoiced spreading lies as the truth
They told of a night in a car in the woods Of a wife and the shame as the windows steamed up They tore her to pieces, the man they destroyed As they waited for rescue the engine had died
She was happily married and he was betrothed The night was so bad a lift suited them both Conditions grew worse, a diversion, road closed A tyre blew, the car stopped, the engine grew cold
Damnation passed by in a rag and bone van A right piece of work with her grumpy old man They both knew the car and they both knew the plate And they both saw the shadows of people they hate
In no time at all they let their tongues loose 'Bout a man with no shirt and a mother of two They couldn't quite see for the breath on the glass But her bra was undone and her head on his lap
The lie grew in stature as no time was lost No way out now for a girl and her boss They were rescued by twelve but the damage was done It was all over town by a quarter to one
A slammed door, a suitcase, a dress in the mud A ring in a box thrown as far as she could 'No smoke without fire,' 'No use trying to deny' 'This town's had enough of your sex and your lies'
They dined on the lies that skewered the truth More meat on the bones, more lust at the roots Far better to roll in the mud of deceit Than to council: 'pray caution, let honesty speak'
