Mental Health

I Have a mental health issue
I’ve had it all my life
Probably genetics…
Passed on by those gone by
It’s been hard to understand sometimes
Always questioning the way
Much harder to comprehend I’m sure
By those I meet each day.

My conscience has left no choices
I have to do what’s right…
I just wish I could rest a while
Find peace for just one night…?
But this world of ours is a crazy place
Full with over seven billion minds
Every one of them needs a home
A place where life is kind.

But half of us need water
You would think a basic human right?
But where does my mental health issue stand
When so many have to face this plight?
A third of us are still starving
Some living on the streets…
Children used as personal slaves
…my conscience quietly weeps.

Now when I look at life around me
I can better understand my mind
I know that I have issues
But I’m not one of a kind…
We all have life to deal with
Where it leads is left to be told
I have tried my best to be honest
But it’s only my mind that knows.
