Some Women/Some Woman

some women do what some men want
out of need
out of lack
out of negation
some women

I have known
I have been
one woman
who didn't want to repeat
what some woman had done
yet I repeated
her deeds
out of need
out of lack
out of negation
some woman I was
no self-equation
some woman

years have passed
gone in a flash
time cannot be recalled
nor relived
I had spent too many years
being some woman
with not enough to give
herself

but
now I am some woman
who wants to live
out of love
and out of plenty
and not having to live as if
I had to go or do without any
any of what I wanted so dear
or where my dreams dwell
in the now and here

I want some man
to share what life is left
with some woman
this woman
no longer bereft
nor living in lack
or negation
I know the sum of
my equation

I'm not just any woman
but some woman
who has a lot
much more than she ever thought
and who's thankful
for who I am

no longer the one who went with
to get along with
but the new and improved
not the narrow
but the broad width
the strong one
not the wronged one
I am the other woman
and some kind of woman
I am.

I once was a stray cat,
but now have found I have the
