Farewell

Original Contemporary Poetry by author, Jean Parr

"Farewell"

If these be my last words on Earth, allow me to be unrestrained
I’ve been abused, I've loved, I’ve lost
I’ve abused, I've hated, I’ve gained
I have tried to be perfect and failed at all cost

I hold grudges and argue for fun, not to know
I have the same first date over and over, very unsuccessful
I'm a middle aged woman with not much to show
I have too many disorders, the number is painful

I am lonely all the time, even when surrounded by people
I smile and interact, a credit to my high school drama teacher
Filled with so much anxiety, I can feel the pinprick of a needle
Why procrastinate the inevitable, might as well get the preacher

Breathe deeply and count to ten
Farewell to all women and men
