wordrider's world

Once upon a Thanksgiving.

Once upon a Thanksgiving day,
sitting around thinking what a day.
Seeing people on the way to see their folks,
laughing at their unfunny jokes.

You wonder what it is like to be there
with friends to share.
Talking about a dead member of the family
bringing up happy but also sad memories.

Living in cardboard boxes with no chance of tomorrow,
wondering how to escape from all this sorrow.
Praying for another time,
thinking maybe somehow it is all in your mind.

Not really afraid for yourself,
but wondering how others you can help.
But for now just coasting along,
still knowing there are things that still makes your thanks strong.
