“Hidden Meaning”
He tried
not to read
to much
in to it
she talked to
everyone
that came across
her path
but when she
talked to him
the words
she used
seemed different,
he couldn’t
explain
in what way
they were
other than they
seemed softer
when she spoke
caringly
to him
and sharper
when her words
were verminous
but maybe
it’s just that
she’s aiming her
words
in his direction
and that’s why
they seem so
specially blended
just for him,
but even
when she
hands him a
smile
he swears it’s
brighter
and has more
heart
behind it
then the one’s
she casually
throws about
the room
but could this
really be true,
he studies her
movements
as she walks
by him
maybe there is
a hidden sign
she is giving
him
a higher degree
of attention
then the others
competing for
her time
are getting from
her,
but she
freely gives
so much of
herself
to anyone
she’s engaged
with
spotting an extra
amount of
smile
or anything else
for that matter
is going to be
pretty hard,
he notices
she has stopped
moving
his eyes
which had been
closely following
the back of
her
searching for
possible telling
traits of affection
among other
things
travel up her
now stationary
body
to a face
and a set of
shrugging
shoulders
that in concert
display
a look of
‘WHAT?”
he gives back
to her
in return
half a wave
analyzing her
improv charade
pose
not understanding
her reaction
is a direct result
of his study
of her,
he can’t make
any kind of
determination
as to her
body language
having anything
added to it
just for him
he hadn’t ever
seen that look
on her before,
she shakes her
head
in frustration
and just walks
away,
maybe he’s not
trying
all that hard
not to seek
out
special meanings
meant only for
him
in every little
thing
she does
but this time
he’s sure
that shake of
her head
definitely had
something more
added to it
and it was all
meant only
for him,
and unknowingly
he smiles…
