The light remembers
The light remembers
barking from a county fair mid-way, when you first met.
just being enough for that moment, in the tunnel of love.
red and greens of Christmas, in eaves of the first house.
The light sees
shadows of plans made, before the whole story had unfolded.
tears in solitary darkness, promises were made to be broken.
the struggle continues, days burnt for a journey, not the goal.
I may forget, my eyes will fail, but the light sees and remembers
barking from a county fair mid-way, when you first met.
just being enough for that moment, in the tunnel of love.
red and greens of Christmas, in eaves of the first house.
The light sees
shadows of plans made, before the whole story had unfolded.

the struggle continues, days burnt for a journey, not the goal.
I may forget, my eyes will fail, but the light sees and remembers
